My new/old found Love is Film......
Last year I picked up this old Polaroid Land Camera from a vintage shop, it looked super cool and I thought it would make a great edition to my "vintage" camera collection. Little did I know at the time that I would be buying film for this beauty and actually producing images with it.
It sat on my shelf for a few months until I discovered a wonderful fashion photographer named Emily Soto. I could't believe it, she was shooting film and was using old Polaroid's. I began studying her work and reading anything I could find about her. Then this happened....she was holding a workshop in Toronto Ontario. I was over the moon with excitement, I wasted no time signing up for her workshop. I secured my seat, packed my camera equipment and of course my old Land Camera. The workshop was an amazing experience, we shot with our digital camera's and practiced with some amazing Polaroids.
As a Portrait/Wedding Photographer, I shoot mainly digital but now I have the option to carry along a older film camera and take some shots. I love when I am at a wedding with the bride and groom and I pull out the Polaroid Land Camera, I take a shot, peel apart the film and give the bride and groom there first printed image from their wedding!
Other Vintage Film Cameras
My fun doesn't just stop with Polaroids, I am now playing with a few other vintage camera's. Recently I picked up a Rolleiflex and I have loaded it with film. I will keep you posted on how the images turn out once I have the film developed - I can't wait!
So if your wondering what to do with your old film camera's laying around in an old box? Buy some film and have some fun....You will be amazed at what you can develop.
When people say film is Dead....I say not a Chance :-)
